A blog is a personal online diary sort of thing, where an individual writes about their own personal interest. Basically a blog is all about own personal fields of interest but there are lots of blogs that are created to promote a certain perspective or products. They can be tagged as "Commercial Blogs". Just like a website a blog can also be optimized to get maximum exposure in terms of business and popularity. Following are some simple steps which if followed can result in better visibility of your blog.


1. To optimize a blog you need a blog. Register a blog either in Blogger.com (a Google initiative) or in Wordpress.com. Except these two, there are other several blogging platforms present on internet but these two are most widely used. If you want to promote business through your blog or make money out of it by running ads, then it is suggested to use BlogSpot.
2. Use simple templates and SEO friendly images (there are several image processing websites are there, which process your image by making it lighter so that a spider can easily crawl it and index it) to decorate your blog. Always remember to add an alternate text (Alt txt) or image summary to the images that you are using.
3. Add suitable Meta tags and Meta description. If you are using blogger (that’s BlogSpot), add suitable title to your blog which generally reflects the type of content which your blog have.

4. Write unique and grammatically correct content. Frequently update your content. This will ensure the search engine spider to crawl most often. Plagiarism is one of the most important factors on internet. Do not copy & paste your content. This may result in closure your blog.

5. Internally link your blog. This means like your one post with other with relevant keyword or phrase. Check from time to time the link functionality. Remember broken internal link may hamper your ranking in search engines.

6. Regularly submit articles in good article directories and fetch a back link from that article towards your preferred page. This has helped me a lot in ranking high in Google SERP (Search Engine Result Page). There are several god article directories are there and they are free too.

I would suggest Go article, Article Dashboard, Ezine, Amazine like sites. They are simply best.

7. Beside article submission, you also need to do web submission / blog submission to ensure the continuous flow of back links towards you blog. This is also very simple as there are thousands of web directory, which offer this service free. Don’t go for reciprocal submission; instead choose the free and do- follow one. No-follow & Do-follow are HTML attributes which denotes which link to follow and which to not. So, never go for Do-follow. You also need to do RSS submission of your blog. You can get the RSS feed of your blog by clicking the orange button at the right side of the address bar.

8. Exchanging links with other relevant sites or blog is considered as one the main foundation of SE ranking. But it will be effective only when you exchange links with other relevant / good quality site and it is preferred that the link come from inside the content and not from the resource page.
